SOLEMN OPENING OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PARK
On Wednesday (15 May 2013), at South East European University in Tetovo, the solemn opening of the Technological Park was done in the presence of Ministers of Economy and Education of Macedonia, Mayor of Tetovo and representatives of several embassies accredited in Macedonia.
The Rector of South East European University Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, said technology parks in themselves include important elements - I would say key for the economy based on knowledge, such as the aspects of innovation, commercialization of ideas, entrepreneurship and wise partnership university-industry-government.
“As you will see, today we are not only solemnly opening the building infrastructure of Technological Park - which are important elements for companies, but also we are promoting three companies that already are part of the park with their plans”, said Rector Dika
Mayor of Tetovo, Teuta Arifi, in her address said that projects of this kind aim to create conditions for the development and implementation of innovations.
“There could not be a better time than this to establish the scientific-technological park because the dynamics of economic and technological change in Europe largely reflects the establishment of new economic system based on knowledge and guided by scientific research and continuous technological innovation”, said Mayor Arifi.
Minister of Education of Macedonia, Pance Kralev, congratulated SEE University and the University Board for the courageous step in creating technological park, which will affect the development of companies and joint partnership. This is the first technological park that is opened in Macedonia.
Minister of Economy of Macedonia Valon Saraçini, said that “at SEE University there is a solid infrastructure and scientific staff, who may be carriers of the innovative processes, and will enable the practical application of existing knowledge and use them to solve concrete problems in the economy, to promote development and to stimulate export.”
The Director of SEEU Technological Park, Ass. Prof. Dr. Azir Aliu said the park would help professors, researchers, students and business to cooperate with the objective to introduce innovations in academia and in industry as well as.
For the opening of the Technological Park, the South East European University has invested about 50 thousand Euros and provided a space of 650 square meters.
