Regional initative “Innovate for Good” in Belgrade

Modern technologies used to inspire social change and better quality of life for young people

Belgrade, October 15th, 2013– Together with NGO TechSoup Global, Microsoft is hosting a regional Innovate for Good workshop, aimed at empowering young people in the fields of social innovation and entrepreneurship, on October 18th and 19th. The workshop will take place at Microsoft Serbia’s offices, gathering 50 participants from seven countries in the region.


Under Microsoft’s YouthSpark initiative, Innovate for Good workshops aim to help young people explore together their interests in social change, with technology as a tool to help them. During the two-day workshop, participants from various social spheres and NGO sector will explore how new technologies can be applied and directed towards building social change and creating a better future for youth and their communities. Local workshops are complemented by engagement with an on-line global community of changemakers as well as input from Microsoft employees and access to corporate programs.


As the host of this year’s regional Innovate for Good event that will take place in Belgrade, Serbia will also welcome representatives from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania.


Through Microsoft’s corporate Citizenship programs, Microsoft dedicates much of its donations to the nongovernmental sector that supports youth projects, as well as various citizens’ initiatives that focus on helping youth around the world. The goal of the YouthSpark Initative, supported by the Innovate for Good workshop and other programs, is to help 300 million young people in 100 countries around the world over three years explore and embrace opportunities in education, employment and entrepreneurship to realize their full potential.
